This meet just gets bigger every year with cars coming from Arizona, New
Mexico, California, Nevada, maybe Utah, Oklahoma and Colorado! If
you're wondering if it is worth the trip, take a look at the photos from
2008and 2009...you will sign up immediately.
ACCOMMODATIONS: The Trail Rider's Inn (13 N 7th St, 520-457-3573)
will serve as HQ for the event, but it was sold out a year ago.
However, below are some hotels that are still avaiiable -- those with an
asterisk are within staggering distance of town and the Trail Riders
Inn.
- *Bella Union Adobe Lodge, 505 E. Fremont St, 520-457-2241
- *Crazy Annie's Bordello, 95 S 10th St, 520-457-3847
- *Tombstone Bordello, 101 W Allen St, 520-457-2394
- *Tombstone Sagebrush Inn, 4th & Bruce, 520-457-2311
- Holiday Inn Express (1 mi), 580 Randolph Way, 520-457-9507
- Best Western (1 mi), 801 N Hwy 80 West, 877-652-6772
- *Larian Motel - 410 E. Fremont St, 520-457-2272
- *Tombstone Motel, 502 E. Fremont Street, 520-457-3478
FRI 11/12 - ARRIVAL - Many folks will arrive on November 13th,
Friday afternoon. If you are arriving after 7:00PM, please let your
hotel know (many of the smaller motels do NOT have evening staff, so
they will leave your key for you). When you arrive, explore the town on
your own. Discover Big Nose Kate's and the Crystal
Palace. Have your pictures taken in western wear at Sadie Jo's Old west
Photo Studio. Relax, meet old friend and make some new ones. The
Clanton's will be in town this weekend as it is their annual pilgrimage
to Tombstone as well, and their events are open to everyone.
FRI 11/12- 6:30 PM - DINNER - Dinner restarurant TBD. Be sure to
come hungry!! We will be delivering the 2010 Tombstone T-shirts at
dinner.
SAT 11/13 -7:00A-1:00PM - CAR SHOW - Saturday morning will dawn early as
we plan to park our cars on the street at 7:00AM. Cars will be judged
and awards given at High Noon. You need to stay in the vicinity, and we need to have the cars off the street by 1:00 PM.
SAT 11/13 1:00PM - Saturday lunch is on your own. Continue to
explore Tombstone, or take a drive out to Kartchner Caverns. If you choose to "hang out"
in the Tombstone area, you might check into the Fairbank Ghost town
located at 2679 N. Old Fairbank Road at Hwy 82 eight miles west of
Tombstone. Perhaps you would enjoy a trip to the Boothill Graveyard to
look at all of the old tombstones still there. The OK Corral has "The
Main Event" at 3rd street and Allen. This will show the gunfight at the
OK Corral from the Clanton's perspective. Tombstone Courthouse Historic
Park might be a nice way to while away the hours for a minimal fee of
$4.00. The Tombstone Epitaph Museum or the Bird Cage Theater Museum are
also delightful alternatives for the afternoon.
Sat 11/13 1:00PM - Vines and Wines Ride - Arizona wines have
recently fared very well in some blind professional tastings and the
Elgin area is one of the best for wine in our state. You will have the
opportunity to drive a beautiful road on the way to three family owned
vineyards, beginning with the Village of Elgin Winery
. There you will obtain your glass to be used at the other two
wineries...the glass says something like "Elgin sells wine; Napa sells
auto parts". We will move on to the Keif-Joshua winery and end at the Callaghan Vineyards
in time to drive carefully back to Tombstone well before the BBQ
dinner. Tastings at each winery run between $3.00-$5.00 for 4-9
different wines.
SAT 11/13 6:00PM - DINNER - We will be having our traditional
Tombstone BBQ at the Trail Riders Inn Saturday night beginning at
6:00PM. The cost is $12.00 per person. There is always plenty to eat,
so come hungry! Be sure to find Debbie at the car show to pay for your
meal.
SAT 11/13 10:30 PM - GHOST WALK - Terry "Ike" Clanton usually
co-hosts a Ghostwalk with psychic Vickie Flanders at 10:30PM.
Informations will be posted as soon as it is available.
SUN 11/14 10:00 AM - BREAKFAST - We will gather at a restaurant
TBD for our Happy Trails breakfast. After breakfast we will be parting
ways, so as always, have a
safe and uneventful trip home.....Happy Trails!!!

LAST YEAR WAS A GREAT TIME AS YOU SEE
WE ARE DOING IT AGAIN HOPE YOU CAN JOIN US!!!
Tombstone was a Blast!!! Charli and I drove the 730 miles to get there on Thursday... a long drive but well worth it. We met up with 23 other cars from Phoenix, Tucson, San Diego, Lafayette CA, and Pasadena CA. and the surrounding areas. We gathered together at the The Six Gun Restaurant for dinner. We spent Friday afternoon visiting some of the local establishments liked Big Nose Kates and the Crystal Palace. We visited a variety of shops on Allen Street (the main drag) to wet our whistles and shop.
On Saturday morning, all the cars were allowed to park on Allen Street in front of the shops. There was a car show using local residents and tourists to judge the cars. Several were awarded prizes ("mine was not one") I am so sad. Oh well... there is always next year
, and it gives me a challenge to come up to the level of excellence of the cars that won. We BBQed at the TrailRiders Inn on Saturday night and enjoyed Brats and Chicken with a lively group in the cold and frosty air.
Sunday morning was filled with clear blue skies and we chose to have brunch with the gang before heading up to Pine Top, AZ before heading home on Monday. At breakfast we were already talking about next years trip to Tombstone. This is the fourth time that the GM Roadsters have been in Tombstone and we will be there again next year on the weekend of November 12th 2010. For more Good Fun, Good Food, Good Friends and a Good Time, plan on joining us next fall. More information will be posted next year. See you there...

It
all began last September with an off chance meeting with the SCCA at
Phoenix International Raceway. A small group of Phonecians met members
of the SCCA at the track south of Phoenix. The SCCA graciously allowed
the club members to ride around the track. We spoke of a Phoenix
Children's Hospital benefit and so.....the idea was born. Prescott
seemed the best place to base ourselves as it is cooler than Phoenix,
and centrally located between Flagstaff and Phoenix.
The regional event entertained Sky-Sol enthusiasts from California,
Nevada and Arizona. Many people met in Prescott on Friday afternoon.
We enjoyed relaxing by the pool sized jacuzzi and spent time oooooohing
and aaaaahing over the newest changes to the vehicles in the parking
lot. We eventually made our way to the Gurley Street Grill for
dinner. Our excellent servers took great care of us while the 39
dinner guests enjoyed the patio area of the grill. We met Linda and
Scott from Prescott at the restaurant, and were joined by Gary and
Kathy (also from Prescott) at the Comfort Inn for the ride over to
dinner. What a delightful time we had making new friends and visiting
with friends we had not seen for many months.
A
cold crisp evening turned into a bright and chilly morning. A few
clouds lingered nearby as we readied ourselves for the descent into
Phoenix and the heat of the day. Some cars from Phoenix drove up in
the early morning to join us for our drive down the backside of
Prescott and down Yarnell hill. Our friends Tony and Theresa in the
Bull Run Solstice arrived in the early morning hours as well. We were
delighted to have everyone with us for the beginning of our weekend.
Three of the cars left a little early to scout for bicyclists and
joggers, and enjoyed their ride down through the twists and turns. The
majority of the group numbering 22 in all, headed out shortly
thereafter and soon found themselves at the bottom of the hill. We
pushed on quickly as we had to be at the Raceway by 11:00AM.
As we entered at Gate 5 we were greeted by several other members
from the Phoenix club who were able to join us for the day. Nancy
(from the Phoenix club) and Mike (from SCCA) came out to meet us and
bring us in to the pits. We took a much need rest break and signed
waivers to have our cars and ourselves in the pits. We numbered 28
cars at PIR. We watched the practice races and anxiously awaited our
turn on the track. We were offered the chance for ride-alongs and many
members quickly jumped at the chance to ride around the track with a
professional race car driver. Soon, it was our turn to go on the
track. All who wanted to go on the track were allowed to go out. We
followed the pace car for a couple of laps on the road course and then
pitted so that drivers could swap out and then we were off
again....WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! What a fantastic time that was. We enjoyed
watching a race or two once our time on the track was done. Our
greatest appreciation to Mike and the SCCA for opening themselves up to
us and allowing us to join them on Saturday for a few hours.
 Soon
the group was off to South Mountain for a run up and down the hill.
There were a lot of bicyclists and joggers out so the ascent was fairly
slow, however it is such a beautiful view that we thoroughly enjoyed
ourselves. We moved up our dinner time at the Kings Fish House and
they were very gracious about changing the time for us. Hot and tired,
people began to arrive. We were again out on the patio. We were
joined by Dick and Millie whom we had not seen in many months. We were
delighted that they were able to join us for the evening. Even with
the restaurant taking care of 45 members, everything was delicious,
delightful, and dewonderful. There were many compliments about the
food and service that were offered. It was truly a place I will
revisit in the future.
After dinner some people headed up the hill to Prescott. Some of us
thought we were on our way back up and suddenly found ourselves at an
impromptu visit to the Pavilions car show. No advance warning, and we
had 17 cars from three states to display. We had the D.J. announce the
arrival of the Bull Run Solstice and showed off our very own
celebrities Tony and Theresa. People from all over came to check out
the car and meet Tony and Theresa. We hung out in the cool balmy
evening for a couple of hours and finally took our tired troops back up
the hill to relax before heading out in the morning.
Sunday dawned a little warmer than the previous morning. It was a
later start as we were already partway to our destination. Some of the
travelers from far away had to head home so we bid them a fond farewell
and hope to see them at the next meeting of the region. A small group
of 15 cars headed through Prescott in the mid morning to drive up 89A
and over Mingus Mountain into the small artist colony of Jerome. We
spent an hour poking around and shopping and in general having fun. We
met at the parking lot in front of the Ghost Town Mine for our run down
to Cottonwood and lunch at the Tavern Grille in Historic Cottonwood.
The management was very gracious as we called and let them know we were
coming and would be arriving soon. Again, the service was very good
and the food delightful. When lunch was finished, we parted ways with
half of our group. Many still had many miles to go to get home and
rest before a new work week began.
We took the last 6 cars and headed up through Sedona and Oak Creek
Canyon. The wind picked up ferociously and threw tumbleweeds across
our paths. Several hit our cars which now sport the war wounds of
crossing the open area of 89A. Sorry Christie, I know your car is new,
but we will all be checking it out when we see you next. The further
north we drove, the colder it became, and still the wind blew. In
Flagstaff, we parted ways with the last three cars as they headed for
Laughlin, NV. Happy Trails to all. See you soon....
